RIP Peaches Geldof

Since becoming a mother a lot more news headlines involving children really hit me, many that I would not normally feel so emotionally attached to. On April 7th 2014 it was announced that Peaches Geldof had passed away suddenly at the young age of 25. My heart sank. I had met Peaches once but it was many years ago when we were both younger; I wish it had been when we were both mothers as I know we would have had a lot more in common. When Peaches became a wife and mother she also seemed to transform into a calmer, happier person who lived for her family - something again that I could share with her. I knew she had suffered the loss of her own mother, and sadly it seemed she struggled to come to terms with that loss for the rest of her life, as any person would.

Like myself, Peaches had two sons who could easily pass as twins as they are very close in age and look so similar, and she was an extremely good, hands on mother. I remember, as many of us will, her interview on This Morning where she shared the debate on attachment parenting with the attention-seeking and controversial Katie Hopkins.  I think that is when people really saw how Peaches had changed, and to many she became someone to look up to for not only tackling the irritating Katie, but for also being such a loving and caring mother not just a celebrity who passes off their children to the nanny whenever possible.

I don't want to make this too long a post, but I just wanted to honour Peaches for being a beautifully caring, loving and attentive mother. I get choked up even thinking about her leaving her sons behind, and if she knew that would be the case for her I know she would have been devastated. I know her husband and family will bring up her gorgeous sons to be the loving boys they are now that she could be proud of, it just saddens me that we will no longer see her as the wonderful mother she was, and all the beautiful Instagram photos she would share of her lovely family (her page has now been removed, understandably at the request of her family.)

Rest in Peace Peaches Geldof xxx

Such a sad loss, and it shows us that we should never take life for granted, even when it seems tough and we complain about trivial things, life is precious. Sending all my love to Thomas Cohen, Astala and Phaedra as well as the rest of the Geldof family and friends.

Lots of love

Samantha Dawn
